Provides leadership for specific academic program(s) through effective planning and resource management. Under administrative direction of the Provost. The Dean has oversight of the division’s budget, faculty and staff development and evaluation. He/she is responsible for division strategic planning, program development and evaluation, and any program-related accreditation. Responsible for department 24 hours/day, 7 days/week and for resolving issues which may occur at any time during the week.
The Dean provides overall leadership for all general education courses as well as leadership and oversight of four undergraduate programs in the division, which are: pre-health studies, biomedical sciences, health administration, and population health.
The person in this position will serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). A CSA has significant responsibility for student and campus activities and is designated as an individual to whom students and employees should report criminal offenses. It is the responsibility of the CSA to report to the Security Office all allegations of crimes.
Earned doctorate in discipline related to department responsibility, curriculum and instruction, educational administration and supervision, adult education or closely related field from an accredited university; proficiency in applying advanced concepts, principles, and techniques of learning theories, educational practices and procedures.
Five (5) years hiring education teaching experience;
Five (5) years of progressive and significant educational leadership in a baccalaureate granting institution.
Ability to develop, manage, promote and evaluate academic/educational programs and staff.
Current license/certification to practice in the State of Tennessee, as appropriate.
